As you recover from abuse or trauma, the way you measure your well-being or your child’s well-being needs to change. Value perhaps at first merely being free from immediate threat when you escape. Value yourself for getting out even if you feel lost, confused or doubt your escape was the right thing. Later on, maybe much later, you can measure your well-being based on different levels of happiness or safety or healing. Then perhaps later you might value yourself for how you can help others shift to their new safety because you have perspective and wisdom. Allow room for you to change and grow so that you can value the best that each phase has to offer. Dr Carol Francis 310-543-1824.
