Solution Mentality vs. LEARNED helplessness

When trauma or abuse tackles your life, commonly, you become acquainted with feeling helpless, defeated and stuck. These reactions make sense when out of the blue any trauma or intimidating abuse robs you of feeling like you can be the agent of your life (in charge of you). Once you have escaped the immediate trauma or abuse, you also have to rescue the vulnerable and overwhelmed YOU that suffered by practicing “solution mentality” as I call it. You can start this Solution Mentality by 1) recognizing that a feeling of being defeated or stuck may ONLY be a feeling, not the reality and then 2) telling yourself to search for a solution for the moment however small or short term.
