Out of the blue, I got the flu.  That’s what happens to us all periodically.  For me, it’s hard to accept that I have to stop everything to sleep and rest. When I get sick like this, my body does not let me move, create, nor function.  For those days or hours I must simply stop while my body recoups.  Of course, whatever water and nutrients I can assist my body with helps. But sleep happens whether I like it or not.

Then often, just as suddenly I feel better.  I feel giddy that I can move, think, create, and function. It’s a new lease on the next phase of life and being sick and recovering brings a renewed respect for my body’s needs and my body’s ability to recover.

Of course, chronic conditions my body deals with is a different story, with limitations and management being a chronic matter.  Even with those glitches, there are good and bad days and the good days are a celebrated reprieve.

Our bodies are us! Yet sometimes it feels like our body works against us, holding us back; and of course sometimes we hold our body back with dumb choices.

So, now that I feel recovered, I plan on taking care of this fragile yet hardy body with better respect.  My mindset has once again been reset and my gentle flu (lucky this time) is received as a message to make better choices including celebrating the healthy times with reverence.

Reset!  Here we go.
