Perhaps a measure of your relationship skills is your ability to have your identity intact, your identity growing and evolving and not held back by others, and your self-clarity being easy to maintain in the presence of others and when you are alone. Then to be connected to another individual who also has these qualities with ease and can easily let you have your healthy self-awareness, would indicate a healthy relationship. Some overlap of identity allows familiarity and shared interests but loss of yourself for the sake of the relationship is a sign the connection is problematic, perhaps redeemable, perhaps not.
