Consider how you were raised for a moment to be vulnerable to an abusive relationship, if of course that is what happened. It’s helpful to know if you were raised to be blindly obedient, raised to be treated disrespectfully, or raised to be very naive about conartists or manipulators or…I’m not necessarily advocating blaming parenting styles (unless that is actually valid in your case) but rather as you recover recognize what made you vulnerable and what will help you be wise and safe now in contrast.
